Hi,
you can install vSphere vCenter Client silent using this commandline (for an english installation):
Afterwards you can copy the plugin-directories (f.e. from another client, where you have manually installed the client/plugins, or from the vcenter server’s directory) to your new client:
C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins\Site Recovery Manager
C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\Virtual Infrastructure Client\Plugins\Update Manager 4.0 Update1
…
It also works for vCenter Client 2.5 same way.
This is it

Hi,
just to let you know, I’m working on a Feature-Matrix for these different Blade-Center Solutions as an evaluation for vSphere:
I’ll post the Matrix as soon as I’m far the way down.

Hi,
today I had an issue with 3.5 ESX-Servers in vCenter 4.0. I upgraded the vCenter from a 2.5 (Update 5) to vSphere (4.0) before this Issue occured. After the Upgrade it was not possible to add 3.5 ESX-Servers to the vCenter and also (after a while) all ESX-Servers where disconnected. When I tried to reconnect or add a new ESX I got this Error-Message:
Error Message: Cannot upgrade vCenter agent on <ESX> in <CLUSTER>. Cannot upload agent.

After a Call with VMware BCS-Support, the following solution was tested and worked out for all my ESX-Server (via connect or add, both worked out fine).
Have a look on your vCenter vSphere Server if this Directory exists:
C:\Program Files\VMware\Infrastructure\VirtualCenter Server\upgrade
If it’s not there, you have the same issue I had.
Now you have 2 ways to solve this:
Now you have to restart your Virtual Center Service on your vCenter.
And now it’s time to reconnect or add your Hosts J ! That’s it !
If you want to find out the installed Version of vCenter Agent on your ESX-Server:
# rpm -qa | grep vpxa
VMware-vpxa-2.5.0-147633 if you use vCenter 2.5
VMware-vpxa-4.0.0-162856 if you use vCenter 4.0
Below you’re see some Hardcopys of the Directories – how it should be and should NOT be:
Hardcopy 1 – That’s how it should look like – 105 Files – 411 MB

Hardcopy 2 – That’s how it should NOT look like – 53 Files – 169 MB – This is from a vCenter 2.5 (Original Directory Name is “upgrade”, not “upgrade old”)

Useful VMware KB’s for manual deinstallation of vcenter agent on ESX-Servers:
